WordPress to Shopify migration for a luxury jewelry brand

A bilingual Shopify store replacing an ageing WordPress site, with a translation workflow the brand can keep using.

The challenge

A luxury jewelry brand selling in Hebrew and Russian had outgrown its WordPress store. The catalogue needed to move without losing rankings, the new store had to handle two languages properly, and the Russian translation had to be consistent across hundreds of model names that are easy to transliterate three different ways.

What was built

The store was rebuilt on Shopify’s Edge theme, with the catalogue, customers and URLs migrated and redirected, following the WordPress to Shopify migration checklist. For the Russian language layer, a transliteration glossary for model names was agreed first, then a Node.js extraction script against the Shopify GraphQL API pulled every translatable string for translation and pushed it back consistently.

Proposals and quotes were delivered as Hebrew RTL Word documents, which became the standard format for later Israeli clients.

The result

The brand runs on Shopify with a Hebrew storefront and a Russian translation that matches its own naming conventions. The workflow from this project, catalogue migration plus a scripted translation layer, became the base for every Shopify migration since.
